Centre for IT Security

The ZITS centre for IT security was set up in 2003 as a location for IT security SMEs and as an education and training venue for the sector. The ZITS is located at the Technologiequartier Bochum technology quarter, in close vicinity to the scientific institutes and facilities of Bochum’s university which, in particular thanks to the Horst-Görtz-Institute for IT security (HGI), enjoys an excellent global reputation in this field.

Since the centre’s establishment, several thriving spin-offs from the scientific facilities of the Ruhr University Bochum have settled and thrived there, such as Rohde & Schwarz Cyber Security and Escrypt.

ZITS forms part of the Eurobits European Competence Centre for IT Security, founded in 1999 in Bochum, which focuses primarily on the collaboration and transfer between science and industry in the field of IT and information security. Current Eurobits members are:

• the Horst-Görtz Institute for IT Security (HGI) 
• the ISEB Institute for E-Business Security (RUB)
• the Isits International School of IT Security 
• the Rohde & Schwarz Cyber Security and Escrypt technology companies
• the Zentrum für IT-Sicherheit centre for IT security

The centre for IT security (ZITS) is operated by Zentrum ITS and is a joint venture between Bochum University and the Bochum Economic Development Agency.

Office space

The building features modern, air-conditioned office spaces on the 2nd and 3rd floors with a total lettable space of 1,550 square metres and its own unique security concept. The units vary in size between 35 and 470 square metres and are equipped with their own separate IT networks. A fibre-optic line ensures optimum bandwidth and speed.

Conditions

Contract duration: 5 years as a rule, individual agreements possible.

Basic monthly rent [net]: office space: 9.20 euros/m², parking spaces: 25.50 euros per space (these rates are exclusive of 19% VAT).

Venue area

All tenants and external parties are invited to use a large, state-of-the-art event area on the ground floor consisting of a main hall and several smaller conference and seminar rooms. The spacious foyer may also be used and rented for larger events and exhibitions. Both main hall and conference/seminar rooms feature variable seating facilities as well as cutting-edge presentation and media technology (such as beamer, laptop, microphone system, whiteboard, presenter's tool case) as well as internet access, which may be booked separately.
