Healthcare Campus NRW
In May 2009 the federal state North Rhine-Westphalia has laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Healthcare Campus North Rhine-Westphalia with its head office in Bochum.
The Healthcare Campus North Rhine-Westphalia is supposed to connect the key players of the regional health sector, as well as to merge their expertise and knowledge while encouraging the strategic advancement at the same time. It provides all platforms necessary for this purpose and acts on a cross-institutional basis through cooperative agreements with partners across Germany. The Healthcare Campus interlinks the healthcare policy with science, research and teaching as well as with economic development.
Owing to numerous opportunities to link up with the teaching facilities on the campus, the Healthcare Campus represents an attractive focal point to corporations acting in the healthcare management.
As to date, the following facilities have been or will be established on the Healthcare Campus North Rhine-Westphalia:
- Strategiezentrum Gesundheit Nordrhein-Westfalen (Strategic center for health, North-Rhine-Westphalia)
The Strategiezentrum Gesundheit NRW is considered to be the „nucleus“ of the Healthcare campus NRW. It acts as driving force in the initiation of nationwide projects and co-operations, while also providing for the development and structural organization of the Healthcare Campus.
- Hochschule für Gesundheit (hsg) (School of health)
Since September 2010, Germany´s first School of health for health care professions in Bochum has started to offer bachelor courses in Occupational Therapy, Midwifery Science, Logopedics, Hospital Care, and Physical Therapy.

- Clustermanagement Gesundheitswirtschaft NRW (Cluster management of the health care sector NRW)
The Clustermanagement Gesundheitswirtschaft NRW connects the market´s key players of the regions Aachen, Cologne/Bonn, Münsterland, Eastern Westphalia-Lippe, Southern Westphalia, and the Ruhr Metropolis.
