New State Centre for Health North Rhine-Westphalia
Since the beginning of the year, the former Strategy Centre for Health NRW and the “Public Healthcare” division of the former Institute of Health and Work of the State of NRW (LIGA.NRW) have now become the “Landeszentrum Gesundheit Nordrhein-Westfalen“ (LZG.NRW) – the State Centre for Health North Rhine-Westphalia.
The centre is part of the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry for Health, Equality, Care and Aging (MGEPA). The 130 staff will initially continue working at the three locations in Bochum, Bielefeld and Münster, but in the long term the centre will move to the Healthcare Campus NRW site in Bochum, with the exception of the Münster laboratories.
The new LZG.NRW will be led jointly by Prof. Dr. Med Rainer Fehr, who will simultaneously head the Department of Public Healthcare, and Arndt Winterer, who is responsible for the Department of Healthcare, Health Management and Campus Development. Prof. Fehr was formerly the head of the “Prevention and Innovation” department at the LIGA-NRW and Arndt Winterer was the “Economics in Healthcare” group leader at the MGEPA NRW.
Both of them are convinced that this new structure will support North Rhine-Westphalia as a healthcare state even more effectively. “The former Strategy Centre gains additional expertise from the close cooperation with the public healthcare experts and the topics of public healthcare develop additional effectiveness in connection with the former Strategy Centre to shape healthcare policy in North Rhine-Westphalia.”
